Our Stanley Cup Encounter!
We were in the presence of greatness a few weeks ago…
The Stanley Cup, also known as The Holy Grail, Lord Stanley’s Cup, The Cup and Lord Stanley’s Mug took a ride with Luxury Transport Inc. and we couldn’t have been more honoured.
It was our greatest pleasure to be of service to Mr. Cam Neely, a previous Vancouver Canuck and Boston Bruin, and acting President of the Boston Bruins, as he visited various Vancouver landmarks with his family and precious Cup in hand.
A few fun tid-bits about Lord Stanley’s Cup…
The current Stanley Cup, topped with a copy of the original bowl, is made of silver and nickel alloy.
It has the names of all winning players, coaches, management and club staff engraved on its chalice.
It was awarded for the first time in 1893 as the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup and then in 1926 became the official championship trophy of the NHL with 94 Cup wins since the 1914-15 season.
There were only two years that the Cup was not awarded: 1919 because of the Spanish Flu and 2005 because of the NHL lockout.
