New lift upgrades for Whistler Blackcomb!

Mike Crane

Whistler Peak (Tourism Whistler/Mike Crane)

It’s been big news recently that Vail Resorts has announced a massive $66 million gondola & lift upgrade to Whistler Blackcomb Mountains for the coming year.  Way!

New Gondola

First of all, a new gondola on the Blackcomb side, in addition to lift upgrades will make both mountains even more accessible.  So this will allow you to really maximize your time enjoying the slopes!

The new 10 passenger gondola that will replace the Wizard and Solar chairlifts at the base of Blackcomb will move a whopping 4,000 people every hour.  This will out-do all others in North America in capacity.

Lift Upgrades

In addition, and in terms of lift upgrades, the Family Zone’s Emerald Express will see a face-lift from a 4 passenger to a 6 passenger high speed.  The 3 passenger Catskinner chair will be replaced by a 4 passenger high speed.

We know it’s difficult for anyone to think about anything else right now outside of easier and quicker access to Whistler Blackcomb mountain (get me up there now!!)… But for anyone thinking ahead to summer, part of the expansion and improvements includes upgrades to the bike park.   This will involve a monumental addition of 21 km’s of biking terrain to Whistler Blackcomb’s already amazing mountain bike park.

In short, if you haven’t already booked your upcoming Whistler holiday, get up here!
